The big picture:
The event featured keynote speeches by Senator Mushahid Hussain, IPI Chairperson Shireen Mazari, and Shahab Esfandyari, the head of IRIB University. Additionally, a number of senators, scholars, and media figures attended the meeting. A delegation of Iranian scholars and journalists, led by Shahab Esfandyari, was also present at the event.
The speakers emphasized the importance of fostering cooperation, bridging borders, and strengthening ties between Pakistan and Iran.
What they're saying:
Senator Mushahid Hussain stated that the time has come for power to shift from the West to the East. He noted that even Western critics are acknowledging that the West is losing its influence. This theory has been validated by Iran's recent successes against Israel and its allies.
Shireen Mazari commented that while there are objections raised against Iran's peaceful nuclear program, discussions about Israel's nuclear capabilities are often overlooked. As a result, Iran is not bound by the pressures imposed by others.
Shahab Esfandyari emphasized the commonalities between Pakistan and Iran and stressed the need to strengthen their social and cultural ties. He mentioned that the poetry of Pakistan's national poet, Allama Iqbal, is highly revered in Iran and has significantly influenced the youth during Iran's Islamic Revolution.
Iranian filmmaker and journalist Ali Sadriniya: "One of the reasons for our visit here is to express our gratitude to our Pakistani brothers for their unwavering support of Iran during the Iran-Israel war."
The experienced journalist and host of the discussion, Syed Baqir Sajjad: "The role of the media is crucial; it must rise above stereotypes and explain complex situations to an informed audience. In the absence of information exchange, misunderstandings can arise. I hope to see more media delegations from Iran so we can build a meaningful relationship."
